Ty grew up in Billings, MT and moved to Spokane in 1986. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1988 and Washington State University in 1993. Ty started Clearwater Landscape in 1996, passed his Landscape Architect Exam in 1997, and then merged his company with Summit Landscape in 2000 to create the infamous group you see below.

So who is he, you ask? Well, as he tells his kids, he plants flowers for a living. But as we all know, it's a bit more complicated than that. He chose this career after spending his first year at WSU in the Mechanical Engineering program. Part of the problem is he probably didn't do enough thinking that first year, as he may very well have been busy doing other college-type activities. That summer, he returned to Spokane and worked for a landscape company and soon realized how much he enjoyed working outdoors. So he returned that fall, heard about this major called Landscape Architecture, checked it out and jumped right into his DREAM career...
